The newest Update 1 for Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro will add many new features to the operating system itself. These features are identical to the retail versions of Windows 8.1.
However, the biggest change for the embedded version is that it allows sideloading of modern Windows Store Apps without the need for additional sideloading keys!
After the update has been applied (and some settings in the local policy have been changed) it is possible to install and run any Windows Store App on the device. This allows you to create modern applications and ship them with your device without any additional licensing cost for sideloading.
